EcoWise homes at Highland Vistas are ‘low environmental impact’ homes. In doing their part for the environment, Epic Homes has chosen to use new materials and products that help reduce Greenhouse Gas Emissions. In your day-to-day living in your new and beautiful Highland Vistas home, without any additional effort on your part, you have reduced your footprint on the environment.

Every home at Highland Vistas comes with a High Efficiency natural gas furnace. Greatly reducing the use of fuel, natural gas forced air heating is one of the most cost effective and efficient ways to heat your home. Digitally controlled thermostats allow you to program your furnace to turn on when you need it and turn off automatically when you don’t. An 80 Gallon Electric Hot Water Tank gives us the opportunity to use ‘green’ hydro power.

All carpeting throughout your new home is manufactured with 100% recyclable material. AnsoNylon carpeting is one of the most durable ‘green’ products available in new home construction.

Conserve water without any extra effort. Low-flow shower heads and 6-litre low-flow toilets are standard features in our EcoWise homes. Also standard are fully insulated exterior basement walls, exceeding building code requirements and reducing heat loss to the ground, lowering your energy costs.

To further ensure harmful agents do not compromise air quality in your new home, we’ve used Johns Manville Formaldehyde-Free Insulation - the finest fiber-glass insulation with the assurance that it is 100% formaldehyde free throughout the manufacturing process.
Each home site at Highland Vistas has water filtration chambers installed. Stormtech Filtration Chambers capture perimeter drain water forcing it though a filtration system. Silt, sand, and other particulates are eliminated from drain water prior to being returned to the earth, reducing the deposit of silt and soil in our creeks and streams. Fish and other wildlife dependent on these waterways are assured a more promising future.

Another step towards the protection of our surrounding waterways is the installation and maintenance of Bio-filtration Ponds. These large ponds hold ground water run-off, keeping it from flowing away. This ‘time-delay’ allows silt and particulates to fall to the floor of the pond rather than clogging precious fish habitats.
